His prayer beads represent aspiration toward spiritual knowledge. In his trunk, Ganesha holds the Laddoo. This sweet signifies the sweetness of liberation and knowledge of the World Soul.
Large ears symbolize his readiness to hear our requests. The snake around his waist represents energy in all its forms. Meanwhile, the mouse represents his humility.

OM GAM GANAPATAYE SARVE VIGHNA RAYE SARVAYE SARVE GURAVE LAMBA DARAYA HRIM GAM NAMAH

✦ Ganesha, Ganapati and the Origin of the Elephant Head
According to the Shiva Purana, Parvati created a boy from the dirt of her body while bathing. She instructed him to guard the entrance to the bathing chamber.
When Shiva returned home, the boy refused to let him enter. Shiva became angry and tore off the boy’s head.
Parvati was deeply distressed. To calm her, Shiva sent his servants, the gana, to find a creature sleeping with its head facing north.
They found a sleeping elephant and brought back its head. The elephant’s head was then attached to the boy’s body, and Shiva restored him to life.
Shiva made him commander, or pati, of his troops. This explains the name Ganapati.
Shiva also decreed that people should worship Ganesha and invoke his name before undertaking any endeavor.
According to the teaching, repeatedly reciting Ganesha’s mantra with reverence before a commercial venture supports its success.
